Sunderland use social media for Asian expansion

Sunderland have officially launched their latest social media accounts on Weibo, Asia's largest social networking channel, www.sportspromedia.com/. The Sunderland accounts of Sina Weibo and Tencent Weibo will connect the club with Asian sports fans, offering them the latest club news as the Black Cats bid to increase communications with soccer fans in the region.

Live score updates, club news and exclusive player interviews are just some of the items that will feature in Mandarin.

Sunderland AFC's commercial director, Gary Hutchinson said: "The club is continuing to grow globally and it's important that we engage with fans in their native country and language.

"We are continuously looking at new ways to improve our communications with our supporters and the new social channel will enable our fans in Asia to interact with the club more and will offer them access to the latest news and exclusive club content."
