Sunderland's young star Chriss Rigg has turned down the chance to sign for Newcastle United.

The 16-year-old is still being linked with a move away from the Black Cats.

Per The Athletic, Rigg is committing his future to the club for the time being, despite interest from the Magpies and Manchester United.

Given he is only 16, Rigg believes he is at the right place to improve and become a first team player.

He will pen a two-year scholarship deal and then fight for a spot in the senior team.

Premier League clubs are likely to continue keeping tabs on Rigg.
