The World Cup of Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore is not over.
Altidore was stretchered off with a hamstring injury midway through the first half of his country's opening Group G game against Ghana on Monday.
The Evening Chronicle says he will not recover in time to play in their second match of the tournament against Portugal in Manaus on Sunday, with either Aron Johannsson or Chris Wondolowski likely to take his place up front alongside Clint Dempsey.
