Sunderland are ready to pounce for Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson.
The Daily Mail says Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan has made an enquiry for QPR winger Wayne Routledge which could trigger the departure of Johnson to Sunderland.
Johnson is off contract in June and refusing to discuss new terms with Boro.
