Sunderland starlet Watmore eyeing Tyne-Wear debut against Newcastle

Sunderland youngster Duncan Watmore is hoping to make his first team debut for the Black Cats in the upcoming Tyne-Wear derby this weekend.

Since the appointment of new manager Dick Advocaat, Watmore has been promoted to train with the senior side and he was even named on the bench of Sunderland's clash against West Ham United during the previous Premier League game week.

Having come so close to first team football, Watmore is now hoping that he will be handed the opportunity to make his debut for the Black Cats in the all-important north east derby against Newcastle United at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

Watmore told the club's official website: "It would be unbelievable to make my debut against Newcastle United but I'm not getting ahead of myself and I need to keep my head down and keep working hard.

"If I'm picked to be in the squad then great but I have to concentrate on day-to-day training and then see where it takes me.

"It is a massive game for the club and everyone is desperate to get the three points, so we're working hard and doing all we can to achieve that."
