Sunderland signing Jack Rodwell feels he would've had a better chance at Manchester City if Roberto Mancini had stayed.

Rodwell was frozen out last season by Manuel Pellegrini.

On Mancini, Rodwell said: "It was a difficult time.

"The previous manager told me just before he left I was a big part of his plans but then the new man came in with his own ways and brought in his own players."
