Wes Brown has been cleared of any wrongdoing after being sent off on the weekend.
The Sunderland defender was given his marching orders in the second half of his side's 2-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford when Radamel Falcao was brought down in the area.
Brown was wrongly sent off for the incident, which was actually created by teammate John O'Shea, and prompted the Wearside club to appeal the decision.
The Football Association confirmed that Brown's sanction would not come into play after rescinding the red card.
A statement posted on the FA's official website read: "An Independent Regulatory Commission has today upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Wes Brown.
"The Sunderland defender was dismissed in the game against Manchester United on Saturday 28 February 2015 for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
"Therefore, his one-match suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect."
