Sunderland striker Fabio Borini is out for three months with a torn abductor muscle.
The Italian was hurt while taking a free-kick in the 1-1 draw at Southampton on Saturday.
The injury to Borini leaves Jermain Defoe as Sunderland's only recognised striker.
