Sunderland are being linked with Fulham midfielder Bryan Ruiz.
Ruiz spent part of last season on-loan at PSV Eindhoven and is currently impressing for Costa Rica at the World Cup.
He appears to be determined to leave the London club, who were relegated to the Championship last season.
Arsenal and Sunderland have been credited with interest by the Sunday papers.
Ruiz, who wants to stay in the English game, said: "I want to show the English what I am and that what happened at Fulham is not real."
