Niall Quinn has implored Sunderland to stay with Dick Advocaat as manager for next season.
The Dutchman assured survival with a 0-0 draw at Arsenal on Wednesday night and former star forward and chairman Quinn feels he deserves a permanent deal for his efforts after replacing Gus Poyet in March.
"Please God he will stay at the club, I think he's perfect," Quinn said on Sky Sports.
"Sunderland needs a figure like him who commands respect who can get things out of people. He spoke there about getting belief and confidence out of the players.
"Wearing the club shirt with pride - that's all the Sunderland fans want, that's the perfect match. A manager who can bring that, he's not a bluffer. Doesn't blame anyone in interviews.
"He's reunited everyone at the club after a difficult couple of years. The future looks great if he stays... but I'm not certain about that (if the stays)!"
