Sunderland are refusing to give up on securing Connor Wickham to a new deal.
The Daily Star says they are set to offer improved terms to Wickham after the striker rejected a new three-year contract.
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is desperate not to lose the England U21 international.
If they fail to reach agreement, they will reluctantly listen to offers for the youngster with newly-promoted Leicester City and Southampton both keen on him.
