Sunderland defender Michael Turner was delighted for Connor Wickham after his goal in their draw with Aston Villa.

The £8.1m summer signing from Ipswich found the net seven minutes before the break, scoring with a powerful shot from an acute angle.

"It was great to see Connor scoring after playing his first full game last week," Turner told safc.com.

"He's showed what his all about and took his goal well. It was a good end to a good move."
