Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand says West Ham United are not too good to go down.
Ferdinand returns to the Boleyn Ground tomorrow with his former club battling against the drop.
"With the players West Ham have - three England internationals in their starting eleven - it does surprise me they are where they are, very much so," he told The Journal.
"However, there is no such thing as a team too good to go down from the Premier League.
"If you look at the West Ham team which went down in 2003, it had Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, David James, Paolo Di Canio, Jermain Defoe.
"I just hope, come the end of the season, West Ham are not in that situation again.
"I hope they do what we did three years ago when we went to Manchester United and won on the last day of the season to stay up.
"Even better, I hope they make sure they are safe before then."
