Sunderland chiefs delighted with Kaboul capture

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat was thrilled to add Younes Kaboul to his squad on Thursday.

The Black Cats landed the French defender on a four-year deal from Tottenham for a fee of £3million, making him Advocaat's fourth summer signing, and third defensive capture as he looks to restructure the Black Cats squad he inherited from Gus Poyet last season.

Advocaat told the club's official website: "He is a very experienced player, which is what we need. He has shown that in his time at Spurs and he will be a very good addition to our squad."

Of 29-year-old centre-back Kaboul, Sporting Director Lee Congerton added: "In Younes we have signed an established Premier League player with pace and power at the back, which are qualities required in the modern game.

"We're pleased that he's agreed to join the club and he will bring good competition to the squad."
