Sunderland boss seeks explanation from Manchester Utd over Gibson claims
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce will speak with Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson as a matter of urgency over comments about Darron Gibson's proposed transfer to the Black Cats.
Ferguson was on Tuesday quoted as saying the Republic of Ireland midfielder's move to the Stadium of Light broke down because the Black Cats "moved the goalposts".
Bruce, who played under Ferguson at United, told Sunderland's official website: "Sunderland have always had a great relationship with Manchester United, even prior to my arrival here and long may that continue.
"I know Sir Alex is away at present and with the time difference etc, I haven't had a chance to catch up with him.
"But once he's back, I'm sure we'll have a chat and clear things up."
Ferguson is currently in the United States with his team, and claimed that Sunderland tried to change the personal terms of the contract with Gibson.
