Sunderland boss Gus Poyet was pleased with the debut of Patrick van Aanholt in their friendly defeat to CD Nacional.
The former Chelsea fullback signed for the Black Cats earlier this week.
"Patrick did very well, he looked like he's been here for a while and linked up well with the players around him and he got forward, which is what you want to see from a full-back," said Poyet.
