Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is pleased to have Phil Bardsley again involved.

The fullback scored in their Capital One Cup win over Southampton.

The Uruguayan said: "I'm very happy for Phil. Even if he is not going to score, we decided to put him in the box because of his aggressivity to go for the ball and reach things that others won't.

"I'm very pleased for him and hopefully it will give him plenty of confidence for the future."
