Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is unconcerned over Adam Johnson's slow start to his Wearside career.
O'Neill feels Johnson is having to adjust, after being a bit-part player at Manchester City, to being one with added responsibility on Wearside.
He said: "I do think it is worth bearing in mind that Adam is having to acclimatise himself to a different situation here compared to his previous club.
"For the last couple of years he has spent an awful lot of his time being used as an impact substitute coming on late in games.
"Here, he is being asked to play the full 90 minutes week-in, week-out."
