Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is chasing West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson.

The Sunday Sun says O'Neill wants to strengthen his defence before the transfer window closes on Friday, and is determined to bring in a left-back.

Sweden international Olsson is equally comfortable at full-back or in central defence, and Sunderland are tracking the 29-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of the season and has so far shown no interest in signing a new deal.
