Sunderland midfielder Stephane Sessegnon has failed in his bid to have a season-ending three-match ban overturned, reports SkySports. Sessegnon was sent off for foul play in Sunderland's 6-0 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa on Monday night.
The club launched an appeal for wrongful dismissal but that was rejected on Wednesday at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.
The ban means the Benin international will not be available for the last three games of the season as they look to secure their Premier League future.
