Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge's race to be fit for Sunday's FA Cup semi-final appears to be over.
The 25-year old has had a difficult campaign with soft tissue injuries and it looks as though he could be set for more disappointment after failing to train on Wednesday.
The Reds are preparing for the Wembley meeting with Aston Villa but may be forced to go into battle without Sturridge as he has done no proper outside training since suffering a knock in the quarter-final replay win over Blackburn Rovers on April 8.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Sturridge will have to complete one of Liverpool's remaining two training sessions in order to prove his fitness for the clash at Wembley.
Sturridge has been struggling with a small tear in his hip which he initially suffered in the 2-1 loss to Manchester United on March 22.
