QPR boss Harry Redknapp fears his squad was actually stronger last season in the Championship than it is now. QPR lost a host of loan players from last season, including Niko Kranjcar, Ravel Morrison, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Tom Carroll and Kevin Doyle.
Redknapp said: "We had loans last year, so it was a strong squad with lots of numbers. Now there's not so many numbers. I'm happy defensively, but it's in midfield we're short. If you want to play three in midfield, you need more than just three.
"I've only bought four players, we've not gone mad, have we? We let eight loan players go that were here last year. And then we let six or seven go so that's about 13-14 players out.
"If you look at the whole squad I think we've got 18 or 19 outfield players, and that includes one or two lads who couldn't get in the squad last year. So certainly we still need to strengthen."
