Ilkay Gundogan could be forced to leave Barcelona.

The former Manchester City captain has signed for Barca this summer, but the Catalans are yet to make room in their wage budget to register him for the coming season.

Barca have only 13 players registered to play in the LaLiga thus far.

As such, unless Barca can settle their financial concerns, Gundogan will be granted a free transfer.

An option in the German's contract will see the deal terminated if Gundogan cannot be registered by Barca on August 12 - the day before their LaLiga opener against Getafe.
