Stubbs excited seeing Everton striker McAleny amongst goals

Everton U21 coach Alan Stubbs is delighted with Conor McAleny's current form.

The striker struck twice in victory over Stoke City on Monday.

"He [McAleny] is getting better as he is getting fitter and that's all we want," Stubbs told evertontv. "He'll be really happy because he is conscious of scoring goals and getting back into the fold. That's his third game since recovering from his broken leg, so he is doing really well.

"There's another brilliant goal that starts us off and I can't say it is out of the blue because it is becoming a habit. It was a carbon copy - if you had taken away the red and white shirts then you would have thought it was his Bolton goal again.

"He did something similar a couple of seasons ago against Chelsea. He has got that in his locker and it's fantastic ability to be able to do that.

"[For the second], he's gone to put it in the corner, he's bobbled it into the floor and it has deceived the keeper. But it's the fact that he has made the run and John Lundstram has found him with a really clever ball over the top."
