Kevin Strootman is edging close to an AS Roma playing return.

The midfielder has been out of action since damaging his anterior cruciate ligament in March.

"Of course I want to play as soon as possible, but only when I'm 100% so I can be of value to the team," he told Nike.com.

"I don't think about my first game, I think about my first goal in our stadium."
