Strachan: Celtic and Rangers will be playing in European league

Gordon Strachan still believes that Scotland's Old Firm will one day be competing in a super European league.

The Scotland national team boss has being saying it for years and he remains confident that both Celtic and Rangers will quit Scottish football in the next decade.

"Sorry if I'm killing everyone's dream, but I've said over the last ten years I think that's the way it's going to go," he said.

"I think they will end up in European leagues.

"In ten years' time, I think there will be two European leagues where the big players and owners from all around the world will just decide.

"Celtic and Rangers will be in it, that's the way I see it going. I think that is the future and the way it will go.

"Perhaps 38 teams will break away and the owners will try and coral the sponsorship and look after it that way.

"Until then, we can generate some money and make sure Scottish football is healthy before that day comes."
