Stoke City striker Jon Walters is planning to ditch his protective mask when Stoke City play Swansea City this weekend.
The Republic of Ireland international has failed to find the net in his last five games having played with the custom-made mask to protect his fractured cheekbone.
The 31-year old said: "I'm sick of it. It's been five weeks now and I've had enough of wearing it.
"I took it off and slung it to the touchline against Sunderland because every time I tried to head the ball it seemed to send the ball off at a funny angle.
"I don't know why as it's been specially moulded to my face, but I don't think you'll be seeing it again.
"At first it was necessary for protection, but now it's down to me to make the decision and I don't feel like I need it."
