Stoke's Adam: Scotland players happy to welcome back Sunderland striker Fletcher

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam is happy Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher has made a return to the Scotland squad.

Adam also refuted the suggestion that Fletcher's return could inspire some resentment within the Scotland camp.

"I don't think it does," the former Rangers, Blackpool and Liverpool player said.

"You want your best players available. He is one of our best players and it is good to see him back involved.

"What happened has happened, it's done and dusted. Let's move on.

"It's up to the manager if he plays but for us, it's good to have him in the squad because he adds to the quality that we already have.

"Whoever plays up front, as a pair or on their own, they will be trying to do the best for their country.

"We are all in the same boat - we want to get to Brazil and hopefully the quality that has come into the squad for these two games can enhance our chances."
