Stoke City chairman Peter Coates is determined to keep Asmir Begovic at the club.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina goalkeeper, 27, is under contract at the Britannia Stadium until next summer but is a reported target for the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Begovic has been the Potters number one over the past five seasons after joining from Portsmouth in 2010 and the Staffordshire outfit have no intention of letting him go after re-signing promising youngster Jack Butland.
"There are some obvious things we want to do," Coates told Sky Sports News HQ.
"We would like to extend Asmir Begovic's contract, Jack Butland recently signed a new deal which we're very pleased about."
