Stoke striker Jerome hopes goal earns him start

Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome hopes his goal in the draw with Wigan Athletic will keep him in the starting XI.

Tony Pulis' £4million summer signing from Birmingham marked only his third league start for Potters by winning the penalty for their equaliser and then netting No 2.

He said: "That's my first league goal for Stoke but, in fairness, my chances have been few and far between.

"It's been frustrating but no one sulks here. When you get your chance you have to take it and change the manager's mind.

"We thought we could have seen the game out after my goal but we switched off a bit and they punished us."
