Stoke striker Diouf determined to be Hughes starter

Mame Diouf is determined to win the confidence of Stoke City boss Mark Hughes.

The 27-year-old summer signing from Hanover scored his eighth goal of the season when he came off the bench to seal a 2-0 win over Everton on Wednesday night.

Diouf told The Sentinel: "I'm always working hard to get myself ready for whenever they call me. Whenever the boss needs me, I'm ready.

"I'll do my best whenever I'm asked to play on the wing, but I am a striker really and I love scoring goals.

"It's a good time to be at Stoke. We're winning games, everything is happening and people are smiling. That's a good thing for us."
