Stoke signing Adam: I knew Rodgers didn't want me at Liverpool

Stoke City signing Charlie Adam felt his days were numbered at Liverpool.

Adam, 26, spent just over a year at Anfield after signing for former manager Kenny Dalglish in an £8.5m switch from Blackpool.

But he has found himself out of favour this season as Brendan Rodgers begins his Kop revolution.

Adam said: "When a new manager comes in, he's going to want to change the way he's going to play. That's the way it goes, that's football.

"At my age, I wanted to play every week. I owe a lot to Liverpool and those who brought me there. But I respect Brendan Rodgers, he's a top manager."
