Manchester United are again keen on bringing Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross to Old Trafford.
The 23-year old centre-half joined the Red Devils as a teenager in 2002 before leaving for Stoke about six years later but a return is on the cards with Sir Alex Ferguson believed to be interested in bolstering his defence.
However, Shawcross may be reluctant to leave the Britannia Stadium as he has pushed himself into the England frame with regular football under Tony Pulis.
It is also believed that Liverpool are interested but it is United who have shown the most notice after Ferguson sent chief scout Jim Lawlor to watch him in action at Wigan on the weekend.
