Stoke's Hughes happy with debut of ex-Barcelona youngster Muniesa

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes said he was happy with the Premier League debut of young defender Marc Muniesa on the weekend.

The 21-year old Spaniard, signed from Barcelona in the summer, was thrown into central defence to replace the injured Robert Huth and even though the Potters were beaten 4-0 by Everton, Hughes was pleased.

"I thought Marc did okay. I thought it was important that I tested Marc at Premier League level," he said.

"Marc certainly wasn't the reason we got beaten, I thought he was one of our better performers in the back four. We just need to be a little bit better collectively."
