Stoke's Edu cleared for US squad by Philadelphia Union

Maurice Edu has been cleared by the Philadelphia Union to report to the USA national team's training camp.

The Stoke City midfielder, who is on loan with the Union, was selected in Juergen Klinsmann's 30-man provisional squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup this week.

The Union take on Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night but Edu will not be present after withdrawing from the match with a minor concussion issue. He was then cleared to leave Philly in order to report to US training in California.

On the flipside, SKC pair Matt Besler and Graham Zusi will play against the Union before travelling to Palo Alto later in the week.

Edu was part of Bob Bradley's US squad that was beaten by Ghana in the Round of 16 at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
