Stoke recall Tonge, Pugh from Preston

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has recalled midfield pair Michael Tonge and Danny Pugh from their loan at Preston North End.

With Pulis' side facing three games over the next week, he has invoked a clause in the loan agreement to bring the midfield pair back into his squad in time for the New Year's Day Barclays Premier League match against Everton.

Pugh and Tonge joined Championship strugglers Preston in November to gain regular first team football at that level, and both made enough of an impact in their first month at Deepdale to have the loans extended before Christmas.

David Unsworth has taken charge of Preston after the sacking of Darren Ferguson yesterday.
