Stoke No2 Bowen praises frozen out players

Stoke City No2 Mark Bowen has praised the players who have been frozen so far this season.

Andy Wilkinson, Jermaine Pennant, Brek Shea and Matthew Etherington have all had long spells on the sidelines this season as Mark Hughes shuffled his pack.

Bowen told The Sentinel: "They've been good. We've had no problems at all since the day we came in.

"I've been in that situation myself and nobody likes it when they are not playing. Everyone wants to be involved.

"Some are better at dealing with it than others. Some will come and knock on the door to ask why they're not playing, but all of them are working hard in training to win a place.

"We inherited a solid group of professionals when we came to Stoke and they are dedicated and determined to do the best they can for the team.

"The new lads have embraced the same attitude and have been welcomed into the squad, too."
