Stoke City midfielder Jamie Ness has returned to loan club Crewe Alexandra.
The Sentinel says Ness returned his parent club after suffering a hamstring injury in the first half of Crewe's 2-0 defeat at Swindon Town on August 23.
The Scottish midfielder now faces a race against time to be fit for this weekend's game against closest rivals Port Vale after sitting out the last three games.
