Stoke midfielder Adam not prepared to risk red card appeal

Charlie Adam has no intentions of appealing the red card he received in Stoke City's recent Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion.

The Scotland midfielder was sent off for appearing to stamp on the leg of Baggies defender Craig Dawson in the Potters' eventual 1-0 defeat at the Britannia Stadium on August 29.

Adam will now serve a three-match ban for what he believes was a mere 'tangle of legs' but says he is not prepared to risk a further one-match sanction by appealing.

"It's a tangle of legs, you can see as I'm coming down the momentum takes me forward," he told Sky Sports.

"I don't lift my leg to stamp on him but there's contact there.

"It's gone now, we lost the game and I have to take part of the blame for that because I got sent off.

"We were never going to appeal given the history of things which have gone against me. There was a risk that it might even be increased to a four-game ban.

"I spoke to the manager (Mark Hughes) a couple of days later and we decided we just had to take it on the chin and move on."
