Stoke City defender Robert Huth was left 'sick' by Reading's late equaliser for their 1-1 draw on Saturday.
The German was the best performer among a mediocre bunch in the 1-1 draw at the Madejski Stadium, which was quite incredible considering he spent four nights in hospital with viral meningitis earlier this month.
Huth first fell ill with the potentially fatal virus on the club's tour of the United States and has only trained twice since leaving hospital.
"Apparently there was a bug going around in the States and I didn't feel great while we were there," he explained.
"On the flight home, I could feel it getting worse - and 35,000ft up in the sky is not a great place to be when your health is going downhill rapidly.
"When we got home I had a couple of days off, but it wasn't getting better. When I had a stinking headache and became highly sensitive to light, the club booked me into hospital for tests - and they kept me in for four nights."
Huth added. "There wasn't much in the game and it was a sickener to concede that penalty so late in the game."
