Stoke City chief Tony Scholes is delighted with Mark Hughes' new deal.
This term the club are in 10th on 42 points with eight games still to play.
Scholes told The Sentinel: "Mark's record speaks for itself and we are delighted he will stay with us until 2019.
"When you appoint a manager it is always a risk, no matter how much due diligence you do before hand and no matter their track record. It's such an integral position.
"It could hardly have gone any better. He was the right man for the job and he wants to be even more successful.
"There is a feel good factor at the club and it is a very exciting time."
