Stoke captain Shawcross thanks fans for support over 300-games

Stoke City skipper Ryan Shawcross is grateful to fans for their support.

The centre-back became the first Potter for 19 years to make it to 300 appearances for the club when he walked out at Liverpool last weekend.

Before victory over Arsenal, Shawcross told The Sentinel: "Three hundred doesn't really mean anything to me to be honest. It's just a number.

"I might look back when I finish. It wasn't something I was aware of, or that bothered about.

"It's a different club to the one I joined but that's something to ponder when I hang up my boots.

"We've got a brilliant manager at the moment, brilliant players and we're looking forward. We want to finish in the top 10, and hopefully we can do that.

"What I will say is that the fans have been brilliant for me through thick and thin. They've always been there for me. I'll always grateful for that.

"I'm not counting appearances. It should really be the number of good games you play anyway that matter."
