Stoke City boss Tony Pulis says he'll ease in new signing Michael Owen.

Pulis feels he is right to ease the former England star into action because he does not want him breaking down.

"When he came on on Saturday, I thought he did well," he said.

"We don't want to overburden him at the beginning and pick up injuries.

"It's a long season and we will be careful with him and prepare him in the right manner."
