Stoke boss Pulis eternally grateful to Tottenham rival Redknapp

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is happy for Harry Redknapp over Tottenham's success this season.

Pulis and Redknapp are good pals and play golf together. It goes back to Redknapp signing Pulis as a player at Bournemouth in 1986 before making him player coach in the early 90s.

And Pulis had the advantage of learning from a man who worked under Ron Greenwood at West Ham.

Pulis said: "Harry's played a big part in my career, which I'll be eternally grateful for.

"People tell me he doesn't do as much coaching as he did then but at Bournemouth, I was still very young and learning my trade and I thought some of the coaching sessions he put on were fantastic.

"The best thing about being with him was talking about his days at West Ham, with Ron Greenwood, John Lyall, Kevin Bond, Malcolm Allison, the number of top coaches that they produced.

"It was really down to Greenwood, he was such a great coach, ahead of his time.

"If you look at it, the managers that have come out of Bournemouth since Harry was there, either having played or coached under him, it's remarkable.

"Harry did his badges but he's gained his experience by working in the kitchen. Whatever course you go on, nothing can prepare you for management, what you go through."
