Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has paid tribute to Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard.

Lampard gave Stoke youngster Ollie Shenton his shirt at the end of their clash in a week in which the youngster lost his mother.

"I never knew that had happened until I was told afterwards," said Hughes of the gesture.

"It was quality, from a quality guy and a quality player."
