Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says it's tougher for young players to be introduced these days.
Hughes suggests clubs are operating in a different stratosphere to when he broke through at Manchester United under Ron Atkinson in the mid-1980s.
He said: "There is a lot of finance on offer depending on where you finish in the Premier League.
"When I was a young player I got my opportunity towards the end of a season because it was basically over. We weren't in a position to challenge for anything. The manager thought it was a good time to blood young players.
"Certainly that option isn't open to many managers now because of the finances on offer."
