Stoke boss Hughes recalls clashing with Sherwood as player

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes admits he's clashed with new Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood in the past.

As a player, he remembers one or two collisions with Sherwood.

"I've played against Tim on a number of occasions over the years," he recalled. "The first time was probably when he was at Norwich and I was at United.

"And then obviously last year as well when he got the job at Tottenham at the back end of the season.

"At Blackburn when they won the Premier League and he was captain, he was obviously a big influence on that group. He always was a big influence on teams he was involved in."
