Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is delighted with the deals for Peter Crouch and Glenn Whelan.
Both players have penned two-year contract extensions.
"The smiles on their faces on the training ground showed how delighted the two boys were," Hughes observed after the contract signings.
"He (Whelan)has always been a part of that strong group in terms of his professionalism and mentality.
"Glenn has been a part of this club for a long time and got a real empathy for it. It would have been very difficult for him to leave because he's always been a part of what's happened here.
"People have assumed he wouldn't still be at the club, but he's seen all comers off."
