Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has confirmed talks with Millwall over extending the loan of Andy Wilkinson.

Millwall boss Ian Holloway wants to extend Wilkinson's loan spell until the end of the season and that will effectively end his Stoke career because he is out of contract in the summer.

"There's been discussions between the two clubs," Hughes confirmed.

"I think he's enjoyed the experience down there and getting prepared for games week-in, week-out - and that's something I wasn't able to provide for him.

"My thoughts are that it would make sense to extend the loan and keep him playing."
