Stoke City boss Mark Hughes insists he wants to keep Charlie Adam.
Adam has been watched by Real Sociedad No2 Billy McKinlay in the past fortnight.
"I think Charlie is frustrated because he hasn't started, but he's getting game time (from the bench), said Hughes.
"I know why he's frustrated and it's because he hasn't started games and that's understandable.
"I wouldn't want players happy with not being in the team.
"Charlie wears his heart on his sleeve and that's probably where that's come from.
"We've been doing ok of late, so he will have to be patient, like many others."
